Where is modern day babylon
Google Earth tells a different story, It's a hustling bustling place, with maybes of buildings and cars and presumably people around it. So much for prophecy!!! Came across this website as I was writing my major essay. Babylon was way ahead of its time and to see this beautiful place the way it is absolutely breaks my heart. So much potential all crushed due to decades of war.
Absolutely heartbreaking. I've read some of the comments: since when are the events of the book of Revelation past events? In John's day at the Isle of Patmos it was an actual city.
In Peter's second epistle, he claims to have gone there. It has never been burned with fire and destroyed. The Antichrist will arise out of the 10 kings of the One World system, 3 resisting and 7 approving, he becoming the eighth. Then, the Antichrist or the Beast will burn her and destroy the mother harlot city in one hour, so that all might worship him Satan incarnate and be made to take the mark of the Beast.
You may be reading the Bible too literally, Geoff. Peter uses Babylon as a code name for Rome, since the Romans were to first century Jews as the Babylonians were to 6th century B. This also aligns with historical data because it is known that Peter was in Rome where he preached and was ultimately executed.
Because the Babylonians destroyed the iconic Temple of Solomon, the Babylonian King referred to in Revelations will be like King Neb, in that he will attempt to destroy the Church of Christ.
Our heavenly father Jehovah said that he will make it baby lone destroyed in the bible so brothers and sisters we can trust our heavenly father Jehovah. But you just imagine Isaiah propheid that baby lone will be destroyed long time age BC And in few years they came true Thats why we can trust our heavenly father Jehovah that is going to make these earth into a paradise. All that remains of the great city that was at the heart of one of the most ancient civilizations on Earth, is a tell archeological site of debris and mounds spread across an area of less than one square mile near the town of Hillah in the Babil Governorate of Iraq.
Ancient texts say that Babylon was located between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers. Archeologists now believe that the course of the Euphrates River has changed since ancient times, and many parts of the ancient city are now submerged. Historic records suggest that Babylon emerged as a city in the Akkadian civilization around BCE.
Having been deemed an independent city-state in the Amorite Empire, Babylon became the capital under Hammurabi and later, the capital of subsequent dynasties that reigned over Mesopotamia.
With the rise of Babylonia southern Mesopotamia , Babylon became the most important political and spiritual center of Mesopotamia. Now the ruler of a mighty empire, Hammurabi, who was revered as a god, established new rules for his people: the Code of Hammurabi, which dates to c BC and consists of laws.
The Code of Hammurabi, however, is also one of the earliest examples of the idea of an accused being considered innocent until proven guilty. Justice was issued according to the three classes of Babylonian society — those with property, freed men and slaves. For example, if a doctor killed a rich patient, he would have his hands cut off as punishment but if his victim were a slave, only financial restitution was required.
He was followed by a series of Kassite Kings, originating from the Zagros Mountains in the northeast of Babylonia, who ruled peacefully for around years. During this time, the Babylonian language became widely used across the Middle East, and the power of the empire was stabilised.
Through a series of military conquests, Nebuchadnezzar created an even bigger empire, stretching from the Persian Gulf to the borders of Egypt.
