Cavan borders six other counties: Leitrim to the west, Fermanagh and Monaghan to the north, Meath to the south-east, Longford to the south-west and Westmeath to the south. The county has a lot of countryside with many lakes and small hills called drumlins. The highest point of the county is in the Breifne mountains, mount Cuilcagh at metres 2, feet. Cavan is known as 'The Lakeland County' and it is said it has lakes, one for every day of the year. People from Donegal are sometimes referred to as Herring Gutters. Donegal is famous as the home of Irish tweed, and its westerly regions are part of the Gaeltacht Irish speaking areas.
